Yesterday when I came on this site, it said that there was 1 user online and 1 bot. Below it said bot:google --with the google letters all different colors like the google logo is. Then I guess earlier today a post that was made (the one about the halloween party---not sure if there were others)---was blank (as per a site member) and NOW the post is totally gone (insert haunted background music here). I am absolutely confused!! Can anyone provide any insights?? Why would a bot be on here and why would a post disappear??

When someone google searches for a phrase that might include this site google goes out searching all the websites for matching information. The thing that goes out and searches is called the google-bot. It's nothing important, it just means someone was searching on google. Alternatively, it's the storyline of a new Japanese horror film. Once the google bot visits you a creepy ghost-girl with long hair that covers her eyes will come haunt you in 3 days.

Erin, I tried to get on at 4:00 am (don't ask), and I couldn't get on the site at all. This morning there were many threads that had missing posts with missing text. I suspect the forum provider was having technical problems, and I assume that the text has reappeared. I'll go look around after I send this to see if the ones I remember have been restored. You might want to check the home page of this forum provider to see if they mention a problem from today. You could also email them. Things seem okay now, but then you'd at least know. By the way, you are able to delete a post after you've submitted it. That's a little different from forums I've been on in the past. On the others I was only able to edit them, but I was never able to delete it completely. Maybe someone deleted the post? Or was it a whole thread?

By the way, J - LOL! - I thought that just happened to me! Okay, I just went back and looked. I know that there were definitely a few more posts in the "hardy har har" thread than there are now. This morning when I looked I saw posts from Mel and Lisa C, but there was no text. Now they're not there at all. Erin, you might want to write to the forum owner (or whatever they're called). I can do it too, if you're busy. James, thanks for the info about the Google Bot - how interesting. You learn something new every day. The new movie sounds like it's ripping off the "watch the video and get murdered by a scary girl" movie from a few years ago. Or is it supposed to be a sequel?

**watchin my back for a long-haired girl that covers her eyes** Well I went to the main site discussion board and apparently this was an issue that happened across the board with everyone with forums through this site. Luckily it was only posts from one day that disappeared...but still...those were important posts too. Friendseeker had made a pretty long post looking for feedback about a Halloween gathering. I've emailed him and asked him to re-post it. Geesh...what a pain!!

You know what, Erin? I think that when we lost those posts we might have also lost a few new members. It now says we have 27 members, and I think it was 29 last weekend. It's possible that they just quit, but usually people just leave rather than deleting their membership. Do you have a way of finding out about that? I was a new member of a group that had this same situation, and my whole membership disappeared. I just reregistered - no biggy - but I thought you might want to be aware.

There was one member that requested to be deleted...other than that I *think* everyone is accounted for.

I thought we had 29 at one time. There are 28 now, but one person is new. Well, hopefully if someone's membership was lost they'll just register again.
