Everyone has them, the days you feel "down" & life looks as gray as today's sky. How do you cheer back up?

I call one of my sisters - the one who always, always makes me laugh. Or do whatever I've been procrastinating (cleaning house springs to mind here). As a last resort, I go to the LOL cheezburger website http://icanhascheezburger.com/ I suppose you have to like cats for this to work, but dang, I always feel better after a good laugh.

That website is a hoot! I'm showing that to my son when he gets home on Tuesday.

When I'm down I have a few things I like to do. Sometimes go visit a favorite friend and chat for awhile. Go sing karaoke. Go to the bookstore and just mill about until I feel better or just take a nap. It seems I'm grumpy or down when I'm really tired.

I guess it really depends. If I go dancing that ALWAYS fixes my mood. I just cannot be in a bad mood if I am waltzing. On the other hand, sometimes, diving even lower helps. If I am in a blue state of mind, sometimes I feed that with a certain playlist I have on my iPod that has lots of sad, melancholy music. Strange as it sounds by immersing myself in the blues I tend to wipe it out. Weird.

That cat site is pretty funny! Or wait...should I say "dat cat site is purrrtyyy funnay".

Cali...that does seem weird that immersion in blueness helps you...wow..not me. If I'm down and I start listening to sad songs...I just plummet!

However--listening to upbeat, fun, meaningful, LOUD music can often help. Talking to friends, being silly, I agree on doing something that I need to get done helps...feels like I am "in the solution", sometimes going for a walk...sometimes going to bed--things sometimes look a lot different after a good night's sleep. Sometimes just figuring out what is bothering me and trying to reframe the negative thoughts. Doing something creative sometimes hleps too!

James, that video is hilarious! I love how everyone stops in the street and dances with him. Laughing

Unfortunately, I can't do this on demand, but if I have a little cry that often makes me feel better.

It also helps to get out of the house - go for a walk, go to the bookstore, the grocery store, Lowe's, Michael's, etc. Just get out. Getting out with friends and laughing is the best.

Hitting the gym will always do wonders for you too. It's good to feel like you did something positive for yourself.

Weeding the garden - that always perks me up. Probably just from getting some sun & fresh air.

spliting and stacking firewood does it for me - I think just keeping busy - no matter what it is -best for getting out of a blue mood!

LOVE THE NINJA CAT!! And who doesn't secretly want to be a dancing storm trooper?!?

To chase the blues take two prozac with a shot of tequila and call in sick to work in the morning.......no, not really.

When I feel blah I love to curl up with a good book until I feel better.......or watch old movies.......go for a walk in the rain......call an old friend..........take a nap.........look at old photo albums............and sometimes just crawl under my rock until I feel better.

When I'm down (which seems like a lot lately), I call my kids. I think they are both hilarious so they are in charge of getting me to laugh and back out of my funk.

If that doesn't work I crank the power songs up loud and remind myself of the blessings that I have in my life.

LOL Mel! I keep snickering about the 2 prozacs and a shot of tequila. I usually prefer 1/2 a bottl of red and 3 advil, but that's just me. Laughing

Jo, I'm really sorry to hear you're having some sad times. Power music definitely helps. If things get particularly bad my little mantra is: "Things will get better." Repeat as many times as necessary and walk to a store - any store.
